- Does it seem weird to anyone else that men are fighting the courts in order to take their wife’s last name? The Kim du Toit post “TPOTWM” comes to mind right now. (3) #
Repentance Unto Life
May 05 2008 No Comments »This is an excerpt from REV. C. H. Spurgeon’s sermon #44, September 23, 1855 at New Park Street Chapel, Southwark, England.
“Beyond this many advance, and yet fall short of grace. It is possible that you may confess your sins, and yet may not repent. You may approach God, and tell him you are a wretch indeed; you may enumerate a long list of your transgressions and of the sins that you have committed, without a sense of the heniousness of your guilt, without a spark of real hatred of your deeds. You may confess and acknowledge your transgressions, and yet have no abhorrence of sin; and if you do not in the strength of God resist sin, if you do not turn from it, this fancied repentance shall be but the guilding which displays the paint which decorates; it is not the grace which transforms into gold, which will abide the fire. You may even, I say confess your faults, and yet have not repentance.”
“…”Repentance” is a hatred of sin; it is a turning from sin and a determination in the strength of God to forsake it. “Repentance” is a hatred of sin, and a forsaking it.”
Wal-Mart Jesus
Apr 26 2008 9 Comments »This is an excerpt from “Buying the Wal-Mart Jesus” over on the Sacred Sandwich.
“So why do I bring all this up? Because it seems to me that many Christians today have been infected with the same corrupting consumerism that has given rise to the Wal-Mart Supercenter. Their lives are no longer content with the eloquent simplicity of Jesus Christ and His Word, but now clamor for a wide variety of new and improved Christianized products to over-indulge their so-called faith. The congregations have moved out of the austere model of the small-town church, where unadorned worship to God rang forth, and have instead built for themselves Christian Supercenters in which to sell their worldly goods and services in the name of Christ…“
It’s an interesting perspective on today’s Mega Churches.

God’s Gunna Cut You Down
Apr 04 2008 No Comments »One of my favorite songs. Johnny Cash is great.
Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head’s been wet with the midnight dew
I’ve been down on bended knee talkin’ to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel’s feet
He called my name and my heart stood still
When he said, “John go do My will!”
Go tell that long tongue liar
Go and tell that midnight rider
Tell the rambler, the gambler, the back biter
Tell ‘em that God’s gonna cut ‘em down
Tell ‘em that God’s gonna cut ‘em down
I hate Ebay
Apr 02 2008 2 Comments »I hate Ebay with a glowing red passion that burns deep within my inner weavings. I tried to sell my Nikon D50 with lenses, etc, on Ebay THREE FRIGGIN TIMES!!! Each attempt resulted in the same thing: A scammer tried to rip me off.
The first two times were Nigerians that wanted me to send my items to Nigeria, even after I specifically wrote on my auction: “I DONT SHIP OVERSEAS.” Yet they tried to convince me that they put the money (which was quite a bit more than I wanted) into my PayPal account. When I told them they were smoking dope they continued to email me over and over again asking me why I havent sent the camera. And again I would write them cursing their wicked black magic.
Well the last time was the final straw for me. A dude won my auction for $810 (which I had hoped for about $500) and then he said that my Paypal account was paid and to click on “Respond Now” to check my balance. The link of course went to a fake PayPal website where little habeebs hope and pray to Allah that you insert your login and password so that they can clean your Paypal account out.
So what do I do? Naturally I try and contact Ebay to say “what the heck, yo.” And of course Ebay has NO customer service number you can find. I chatted with someone in a IM module who was undoubtedly from India. Couldnt tell me anything of use.
So the moral of the story is DONT USE EBAY TO SELL STUFF!! They are completely run over by scammers. I tried a last ditch “Second Chance” offer to one of the bidders. If they end up not wanting it I will have to sell it by other means. Never again Ebay, you broke my po’ little heart.
